Are you looking for a recycling center in San Jose that participates in California Refund Value (CRV) recycling? Get the facts about the CRV before you begin recycling beverage containers at a recycling center so that you can get the most out of your recycling efforts.
The CRV is an amount of money that California consumers receive for recycling beverage containers, including aluminum, glass, plastic, and bimetal containers, at certified recycling centers or through certified recycling services. Certified recycling services are not government-run, but are actually independent businesses. Contact a recycling center near you for more information on how to perform CRV recycling through them. Each recycling center has different requirements about the conditions of beverage containers that they take, so call ahead in order to be prepared. Currently, the minimum refund value for eligible beverage containers is 5 cents per container under 24 ounces and 10 cents for each container over 24 ounces. To find out more about the current CRV rates, check CalRecycle , the State of California’s recycling resource page for consumers.
